After a late one last night I finally finished this painting. I used some great reference pictures taken at Mountain View Plantation in Delta, Alabama. They have some beautiful dogs and a great lodge. As for now this will be the center piece for the upcoming show.
So last Saturday I taught a still life workshop using acrylics. Before the workshop I brushed up (pardon the pun) on how to paint a still life the way the masters always have. Very interesting researh and a great learning experience for me. So I came home and had to really put it to the test. I did several different still lifes and had a blast. I used very loose brush strokes and finished each painting within a matter of hours. Here's one of them.
I have fallen behind on my blog, so I'll try and get caught back up. I had a very productive weekend and completed a few small pieces. Here is one of them.
I've been lazy for the last two weeks but I'm now back at it. I'll get back on the two paintings I started a couple weeks ago later. In the mean time I wanted to paint these guys. I took the picture on the way back from Austin and have been wanting to paint them. Kevin
I got a little more done on this painting. I should have it all blocked in by Wednesday and then will let it dry for a few days before adding the final details.
I'm a native of Birmingham, Alabama.
As a child I would often say, “When I grow up, I want to paint a little and fish a little.”
So after spending 21 years in the Army I'm now living that childhood dream.
